When a Remote Stops Working

Modern vehicles rely on an electronic conversation between the key and the car. When that conversation fails, the symptoms look similar whatever the cause: the buttons do nothing, the doors will not unlock remotely, or the car refuses to recognise the key at all.

The cause matters, because the fix and the price are very different. A flat battery, a fob that has lost sync, worn buttons and a genuinely failed transponder are four different jobs.

We diagnose the fault first rather than assuming you need a new key.

Not Every Fault Needs a New Key

This is worth saying plainly, because it saves people money. A remote that has stopped responding often needs a new battery, a resynchronisation to the vehicle, or a repair to the fob casing rather than a complete replacement key.

If that is all your key needs, we will tell you, and it is a far cheaper outcome than a new key and programming. Bring the old key out to us when we arrive so we can check it first.
